iFat rolling that blog got every man in here wishin’
Sippin on a cafe latte, I’m like so what I’m up.
It’s the freaking weekend baby, I’m about too have me some fun:
Edition Coffee Roasters in Darlinghurst has been sitting on my list of cafes to visit since it first opened. Featuring innovative dishes drawing inspiration from all over the place, it really goes to show how food can be art.
Let’s take a look at the colouring book that is Edition.
Hi masu no misoni, it’s very rice to meet you.
There’s a tonne of rice in the dish but that’s ok, it’s balanced by the amount of trout in the building as well as the awesome kewpie mayo. There’s a hint of wasabi blended in the mayo and it just binds all of the components together.
Would I have loved some additional seaweed? Sure, but I’m that guy who wants a side of seaweed with fruit salad. That’s just how I am as a person.
Damn, writing this post is bacon me crave all the food from Edition all over again.
A sphere of puff pastry sits on top of a bed of barley and edamame. They look made for each other like Turk & JD from Scrubs and work together just as well. It’s edible bromance with bacon on top. What more can you ask for?
Oh, you want some some fatty soy braised pork to make it a steamy threesome? Yeah, I’m pretty open minded and can make that work. Oh, you want to pour some warm dashi broth all over this hot mess too?
Mmmmhmmm, this one’s definitely being stored in the memory bank for a future peruse on a lonely night.
Black is the new brown when it comes to hotcakes. Super fluffy in nature, these hotcakes soaked up all of the flavours in the immediate surrounding.
And what a surrounding it is, look one way and you’ll see a pool of mango ganache, look up top and you’ll be greeted with a dollop of yuzu marscapone and one final look will net you slices of preserved mango. It’s pretty much a smorgasbord of all that’s right in the world.
Here’s the TL;DR for everyone else who is tired of all of the edition-al content I’ve been coming out with recently:
- I forgot to mention in the post but the coffee at Edition is really, really good for people who want strong coffee but aren’t especially fan of extra bitterness.
- I recommend going super early as there is almost always a large group of excited people hovering around the entrance in the wee hours.
- First read is good, I can’t wait until I get to delve into the second Edtion
