Shopping centre food is notoriously bad.

You either have to settle for fast food that isn’t served very fast, unauthentic Chinese food that you can’t find in China or butter chicken without any butter in it.

Look what smuggled into Broadway Shopping Centre whilst everyone was watching the Olympics.

I’d like to introduce Dutch Smuggler in Broadway.

Having only been open for a week, Dutch Smuggler has already established itself as a coffee powerhouse amongst locals. Alongside their premium brews, they’ve got a compact menu featuring café classics with a Dutch Smuggler twist.

Let’s go around the twist.

Citrus and coffee are low-key best friends. They’re not seen together as often as a pairing like bacon and eggs but magic happens whenever citrus and coffee get together. Loved the refreshing sour tones that came along with the kickass cold brew coffee.

There are few better ways to start the day than with some lemon…aye?

This is why I should write more than twice a month.

Very rarely do smoothies bowl me over but this one managed to do just that.

Chalk it up to a delightful mixture of fresh fruit and granola crunch. It reminded me of eating frozen yogurt minus the knowledge that this trend is set to die out within the next 3 years.

I’ve been struck by a smoothie criminal…and I liked it.

A smorgasbord of meat, cheese and bread? Hell yeah.

The sourdough was top notch as was the prosciutto but let me go straight to the highlight. Smokey, fatty and incredibly delicious; the chunks of ham that came with the lunch.

This isn’t the ham that your mother buys in bulk for your week’s lunch. This is the ham your mother buys when her boss is coming over for Christmas dinner.

And this is the ham that I would like your mother to buy for me when I take her out for brunch.

…I’m so sorry, it’s been a rough month.

Light, crisp and airy this isn’t a guilt inducing waffle. The espresso marscapone really tops it off both figuratively and literally. Every forkful of waffle is enhanced tenfold with a bit of creamy marscapone.

And every day you enjoy this dessert is also enhanced tenfold.

You don’t need a calculator to know I’m right.

Here’s the TL;DR for everyone else who said “phew” after finishing the post and realising I didn’t make a racist Dutch joke.

• Broadway Shopping Centre is really on the comeup right now, helps that there’s a bunch of Pokestops nearby as well.
• You’ll definitely want a cup of coffee or three when you visit Dutch Smuggler.
• The waffles are like the opposite of quaffles from Harry Potter because you won’t be passing them around…but there will be chasers for the last remaining quaffles. Oh man, that analogy really went downhill.
