Gibbons Street Cafe is the next off a high quality production line of cafes featuring high quality produce. Featuring a strong Thai influence doing a funky fusion dance with Australian brunch fare; Gibbons Street Cafe is already among the best brunch options in Sydney.

Let’s show the options this option offers.

gibbons st cafe bangkok eggs
Bangkok Brekkie Eggs: Fried eggs with chorizo, tomato, ham and sriracha with a side of toast and guacamole

Imagine my surprise when I ordered one of my favourite breakfast dishes in the world in the form of baked eggs to be given a side of avocado on toast as a bonus. This is like going to McDonald’s, ordering a McValue meal and the staff giving you a car with your burger instead of fries and a Coke.

Back to the eggs, the dish was a little bit hot, a little bit sweet and incredibly tasty. I basically just broke down the way I described Emma Watson before I had a thesaurus on my bookshelf.

Jokes, I can’t afford a bookshelf.

gibbons st cafe squid and chrorizo linguini
Squid and chroizo linguini with pan-grilled chrizo, squid, mushrooms, chili and olive oil

I love pasta.

It’s a love that will never pastaway.

Think Pad Ki Mao but with linguini and chorizos and mushroom and you’ll get Gibbons Street Cafe’s pasta dish. If that description doesn’t turn you on then I have a viagra guy I can connect you with. Not that I need viagra or anything, I just happen to know a guy that knows a guy.

Anywho, the meaty chorizo, tender squid and kick that comes with this pasta dish was amazing. I would have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and that shameful midnight snack that turns into a full course meal because you have leftovers in the fridge.

gibbons street cafe hotcakes
Gibbons Street Hotcakes: Ricotta hotcakes with berries, honeycomb, yoghurt, and home-made rhubarb and strawberry compote

Holy hell, these are definitely hot-cakes.

The hotcakes were soft, subtly sweet and perfectly complemented by the range of berries and honeycomb on the plate. It was like the Pussycat Dolls only if every single member had the same amount of talent as Nicole as opposed to the same amount of talent as Nicole’s pinky toe.

Here’s the TL;DR for everyone who’s surprised I actually came out with another blog post in the same month:

  • What was my favourite Thai influenced breakfast dish from Gibbons Street Cafe? Too hard to pick, you could say it was a Thai.

  1. For some reason I read your post in reverse. The honeycomb already convinced me to visit, except then I saw the linguine.

    And then, the chorizo.

Gibbon my appetite, I guess I’ll get going now.

  2. Yay.. more ifat!!! I really liked Gibbons St Cafe. I found the pancakes a little mushy in the centre (thanks to the rhubarb & strawberry compote) but the flavour was great 🙂

  3. Hahaha LOVE YOUR WRITING STYLE. You’re killin it, definitely most entertaining food blog I’ve ever read!! Keep up the puns (I love the linguine tooooo)

  4. Hye Team Gibbons.. I must say that the photo shoot of the meals that you serve is quite impressive..!! what is your suggestion for the week day lunch pasta or fried egg?
